As Congress reconvenes after recess, there’s a lot of pressure to get as much as possible done before the election season begins in earnest. And since odd-numbered years are typically when Congress gets the bulk of its legislative agenda done, even with partisan gridlock, it’s certain to be an action-packed session.
There are many big-ticket items on Congress’ agenda, including finishing the fiscal 2024 appropriations bills and funding the government, the Farm Bill, FAA Reauthorization, and the annual National Defense Authorization Act. With more issues like the state and local tax (SALT) deduction, health care, and artificial intelligence rising to the surface, there’s no shortage of items to watch during the remainder of the first session of the 118th Congress.
